this is george. not long ago he was involved with the ams bike co-op (the bike kitchen’s parent organization).

a bunch of folks, including george and some bike co-opers, helped start kickstand, a community bike space in the grandview-woodland neighbourhood in east van. check it out!

The BK is open all summer

If you’ve been around the Bike Kitchen lately, you might have noticed that our front doorstep is now a construction zone. A new temporary loading bay for the Student Union Building is being built in the plaza outside.

Fear not, the space will be open all spring and summer. Okay, we may take long weekends off to enjoy the sun. Anyway, instead of being able to ride in directly from the plaza on the north side of the SUB, you kinda have to go around. There is a path from the outside concourse on the main level of the SUB, on the north side.

Sorry for the extra stairs, there’s nothing we can do. If you need a hand getting your bike down/up, let us know!

Bike to Work Week

This week is fall bike to work week in vancouver. If you’re not already commuting by bike, this week is a great time to try it out. HUB (VACC) is putting on commuter stations throughout the city all week to support and reward cyclists. At these stations you’ll find warm drinks, snacks, cycling information and FREE bike tune-ups. Find a location on your route on the B2WW site. We’ll be sponsering the UBC station on wednesday afternoon. Stop by and enter the raffle to win a new set of marathon tires, perfect for all that winter riding to come. High-fives to anyone commuting in costume.

Our famous BYOB class is back up and running! We are registering participants starting today and the first class is Oct 4th. The bike of your dreams is waiting for you!
